Terms of Use

Plain English, no tricks. These are the terms on which ToolsNook is offered to you, free of charge.

The short version

ToolsNook gives you free calculators and writing tools. They run in your browser. We try hard to get the maths right and we publish our methodology and our test suite so you can check us. But we are not your accountant, your lawyer, or your doctor, and you must not treat a number on this website as professional advice. If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it.

The rest of this page says the same thing at greater length, because that is what terms of use are for.

1. Agreement to these terms

By using toolsnook.com ("the Site"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the Site. We may update these terms from time to time; the date at the foot of this page shows when they were last changed. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

The Site is operated by Asad Janjua, Islamabad, Pakistan. Contact: hello@toolsnook.com.

2. What ToolsNook is

ToolsNook provides free online calculators and AI-assisted writing tools, together with written explanations of the concepts behind them. There is no account, no subscription, and no charge. The Site is supported by display advertising.

Most tools run entirely in your browser and send nothing to us. Two exceptions are described in our privacy policy: the currency converter fetches live rates from a third-party provider, and the AI writing tools transmit the text you enter to a third-party language model in order to generate a response.

3. No professional advice

Nothing on ToolsNook is professional advice. We are not an accountancy practice, a financial adviser, a tax adviser, a law firm, or a medical provider, and we do not hold ourselves out as any of those things.

Financial and tax tools. Tax rates, VAT treatment, statutory interest and payroll rules vary by country, by registration status, and by facts particular to your circumstances. A calculator cannot know those facts. Use our tools to understand the shape of a number, then take advice from a qualified professional before acting.

Health tools. The BMI calculator implements a population-level screening measure. It is not a diagnosis, it cannot distinguish muscle from fat, and it does not account for age, sex, ethnicity or body composition. It is not a substitute for a consultation with a doctor.

Legal information. Where we describe legislation — for example statutory late-payment interest — we are describing our understanding of a published source, which we cite. That is not legal advice and may not apply to your contract or your jurisdiction.

4. Accuracy, and what we promise

We take accuracy seriously. Formulas are taken from primary sources and cited on the relevant page. Calculation logic is tested against worked examples before it is published, and that test suite is public. Where we have found errors in our own pages, we have corrected them and said so.

Even so, the Site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any calculation, figure, rate or generated text will be accurate, current, complete, or fit for your particular purpose. Rates and thresholds published by third parties change, sometimes without notice.

You are responsible for checking any figure before you rely on it. If a result matters, verify it independently.

5. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ToolsNook and Asad Janjua will not be liable for any loss or damage — including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, business interruption, or any indirect or consequential loss — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site, or from reliance on any content, calculation, or generated text on it.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

6. Acceptable use

You may use ToolsNook for any lawful purpose, personal or commercial, free of charge. You may not:

7. The AI writing tools

The AI writing tools generate text on demand using a third-party language model. That output is produced automatically and is not reviewed by any human before you see it. It may be inaccurate, generic, or unsuitable. Treat it as a first draft.

You are responsible for anything you enter into these tools and for anything you do with the output. Do not enter confidential information, personal data belonging to other people, or anything you would not want transmitted to a third-party provider. You are responsible for checking that the output does not infringe anyone's rights before you publish or rely on it.

Subject to the above, we make no claim of ownership over the text these tools generate for you.

8. Intellectual property

The written explanations, guides, page design, logo and code of the Site are the property of ToolsNook and are protected by copyright. The formulas themselves are not ours and we claim nothing over them: mathematics is not proprietary, and the tax rates, health thresholds and conversion factors we cite belong to the authorities that publish them.

Our test suite is published under the MIT licence and you are free to use it accordingly.

9. Advertising and third-party links

The Site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Advertising has no influence over what our tools calculate or what our pages say. No advertiser has paid for a mention, a placement, or a recommendation on this Site.

We link to third-party websites — principally government and standards bodies such as HMRC, the NHS, NIST and BIPM — so that you can verify our sources. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability.

10. Corrections

If you believe a calculation is wrong, a rate is out of date, or a page says something untrue, please tell us. Email hello@toolsnook.com with the tool, the inputs you used, and what you expected. Confirmed errors are corrected as a priority and the page's last-updated date is changed to reflect the correction.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the courts of Pakistan have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country of residence.

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force.
