Who builds these tools, where the numbers come from, and how the site pays for itself.
ToolsNook is built, written and maintained by one person: Asad Janjua, a business development and marketing operator based in Islamabad, Pakistan, with over a decade of experience running and building companies.
He is Co-Founder of Kordovan Leather, a leather goods manufacturer, and has previously served as Chief Marketing Officer at AR Aerospace Pakistan, Chief Executive Officer at Oakn'Moss LLC, and Director of Business Development at MicroChip Enterprises — where he led the Falcon Street Mall development in Karachi from land acquisition through to tenant onboarding. He also runs SCHORE, a brand strategy and performance marketing agency. He holds a BBA from Al-Khair University.
ToolsNook exists because of that work rather than in spite of it. Pricing leather goods means living inside markup and margin. Running a manufacturing business means invoices, payment terms and working capital. A turnkey property development means capex, break-even and payback period. For years those calculations lived in a mess of half-remembered formulas and scattered spreadsheets. ToolsNook is the tidied-up version.
What Asad is not: he is not an accountant, a tax adviser, a financial adviser, or a medical professional. ToolsNook's formulas are taken from primary sources — HMRC, the IRS, the NHS, NIST — which are cited on the relevant tool pages. The tools are informational. They are not a substitute for professional advice, and nothing on this site should be treated as such.
Every calculator on this site follows the same process: the formula is taken from a primary authority or a standard textbook definition, the arithmetic is tested against worked examples, and the surrounding explanation is written to answer the questions people actually arrive with. The test suite is open source, so you can check the arithmetic yourself: github.com/asadjanjua89/toolsnook-tests.
Written content on ToolsNook is drafted with the assistance of AI tools, then edited, fact-checked and published by Asad Janjua. Google permits AI-assisted content where there is genuine human oversight, and we would rather tell you that plainly than pretend otherwise. Where a page states a tax rate, a health threshold or a legal payment term, that figure is checked against the issuing authority and linked so you can check it yourself.
The full process — how formulas are chosen, how they are verified, which sources are used for which tool, and how to report an error — is documented on the methodology page.
ToolsNook is free and intends to stay free. There are no accounts, no paywalls, and no subscriptions. The site is funded by display advertising, which is clearly labelled and separated from the content.
Advertising has no influence over what the tools calculate or what the pages say. No advertiser has ever paid for a mention, a placement, or a recommendation on this site, and none ever will. If that changes, it will be disclosed here first.
The AI writing tools call a third-party language model, which costs money per request, which is why those specific tools carry a small daily usage limit. Everything else runs entirely in your browser and costs nothing to serve.
Every calculator runs locally in your browser. The numbers you type into the VAT calculator, the BMI calculator or the invoice generator are never transmitted to us, because there is no server to transmit them to. We use Google Analytics to count page visits and Google AdSense to serve ads; both set cookies. The AI writing tools are the sole exception — your prompt is sent to a language model provider in order to generate a response. All of this is set out properly in the privacy policy.
ToolsNook currently offers 33 free tools. Every one of them is listed below.
If a calculation looks wrong, a tax rate is out of date, or a page says something that isn't true, tell us. Corrections are made quickly and the page's last-updated date is changed to reflect it.
